Product Review

Whether you're hosting an intimate dinner party or a grand buffet, Calphalon Enamel Cast Iron cookware's rich enamel color and sleek, modern silhouettes make elegant entertaining easy. Ideal for stovetop or oven use and for both savory and sweet recipes, Calphalon Enamel Cast Iron cookware offers tremendous versatility. It creates the perfect environment for slowly simmering meats and potatoes. The cookware's domed cover design features a dimpled interior to collect and redistribute moisture to foods as they cook. Chicken soup, beef stew and other homey favorites cook up tender and flavorful. The cookware is also perfectly suited to casseroles, cobblers and baked pasta dishes. Calphalon Enamel Cast Iron cookware is as durable as it is beautiful. All pans feature a porcelain enamel exterior surface that resists chipping and scratching. Fry pans and grill pans feature a black satin enamel interior that requires no pre-seasoning. The perfect choice for soups, stews and pot roasted meats and poultry. Wide flat bottom is ideal for browning ingredients prior to adding liquids and seasonings. Large, oval handles make it easy to move pans from stovetop to oven to table. Heavy-gauge cast iron keeps helps keep foods warmer longer, too.

Put your cooktop on 8, throw a splash of oil in the pan, slap the steak on for 2 minutes each side you have a perfect medium rare steak. The pan is put on sale pretty often so you can usually find it between $50-$75. Great pan to have. In fact I bought about 10 of them at a going out of business sale and have given many away as gifts. I kept one and I am down to my last one. I am probably going to keep that one for myself as well.

One little gripe about the pan, it gets hot and is hard to use with a oven mitt but that is really a small gripe. It heats evenly and fast and cooks well.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I used mine once, on an electric stovetop, and the enamel coating cracked and peeled off. I stupidly returned it to Calphalon instead of Amazon, per the warranty's instructions, and Calphalon called me today to tell me they no longer make anything else like this, so what other product would I like instead? (They suggested a nice nonstick omelet pan. Yeah, that's exactly the same. Really, I should have bought that instead to begin with.) Save your money.

Found this same pan at Tuesday Morning on sale for half this price. Brought it home and cooked bacon and eggs in it and the coating came off and ruined my spatula. The heat was only on about 4 which is less than medium. Might have just been a defective pan but I do not want another one. I bought a tramontina through walmart for 20.00 and this pan is awesome. I have always believed that you get what you pay for but in this case it was not true.
