This casserole is very sturdy, made of heavy material, looks great, has a smooth surface inside and out, has a lid that fits quite well, can be used in the oven or the microwave, has good handles on both the pot and the lid, and cleans easily (dishwasher safe). Got this to replace an old Pyrex casserole after my wife read reports of Pyrex shattering. The Le Creuset is expensive but much nicer in every regard.
