Lodge Color is one of the newest lines from this respected American cast iron cookware company. Traditionally shaped and more affordable than some European brands, Lodge Color enameled cast iron is just as durable, requires no seasoning, and attractively serves at the table. Lodge infuses this 6-quart Dutch oven with two coats of hard-as-nails porcelain enamel, in a choice of several bright colors that are gradated (dark to light) on the exterior, and which are nicely set off by a cream interior. Embellished with concentric circles and a black knob, the lid, which also fits the Lodge Color 11-inch skillet, is oven-safe to 400 degrees F, so you can start a stew or casserole on the stovetop and finish by baking it in the oven. The 6-quart Dutch oven measures 10-3/4 inches in diameter and 5 inches deep.
Lodge enameled cast iron makes a smart choice due to its versatility-you can marinate raw meats in it, since it won't absorb odors or flavors, and you can braise, sauté, simmer, and bake in it. Made in China to Lodge's meticulous specifications, each cookware item is first clad in matte black enamel before the color is added. The black rim that shows on the oven is actually the scratch-resistant matte enamel, not the raw cast iron. Though the Dutch oven is dishwasher-safe, washing by hand is recommended to best preserve the glossy finish. Look also for the pricier Lodge Enamel series, with its unique L-shaped lid knob, in a different set of colors and sizes to suit any kitchen. Comment: Would recommed this pot to anyone. It makes great chilli, soups, etc. Cleans up fast and easy - just a little on the heavy side.

Comment: I had waited a while secondary to price to add this piece of kitchen equipment. I was perusing Amazon and saw the lower price and reviews for the lodge dutch oven and the price was right. It has been fun trying the recipes for dutch ovens and we have cooked some delicious food in this pot. The braising truly seals the flavors and the oven cooking makes the vegetables and meat so tender. The first time we used it we thought oh my gosh this is not going to be fun to clean, this looks baked on. It was so suprisingly easy to clean and really looked unused again.

Comment: I purchased this mostly for pot roast, drip beef, etc, but it also is great for making homeade spaghetti and meatballs, soups and sauces. I also love the simplicity of one pan from start to finish!
I used to be a crockpot user, until I purchased this pan. There is no comparison in flavor, tecture or the scent coming from the kitchen (I admit the aroma is one of my favoritest parts of cooking)! The crockpot, with the exception of Chile Con Queso, has been fired! Poor lonely thing;)
This pan is very pretty, and since it has to reside on the top of my stove, due to my affectionatly named "one butt kitchen" its a definate plus. It is also economical, in comparison to other brands. It is rated the same by chefs, so I find myself confused as to why anyone would purchase an item that was 100's more?! It is also very easy to clean, another plus. My red sauce came out with very little effort.
Will definatley purchase more cookware by lodge:)

Comment: This is a wonderful dutch oven. It heats evenly, cleans easily and looks great! The only drawback is its weight, but it's cast iron, so what else can you expect? Buy this one if you're looking for a good quality dutch oven at a reasonable price.
