Product Review
Product Description
This pre seasoned 3 quart Dutch Oven eliminates the time and effort of seasoning, offers superior look and appearance to home seasoning and is ready to use right from the box. Tightly controlled metal chemistry and exacting mold tolerances deliver consistent quality for even heating and superior cooking performance. The lid seals in moisture and the excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. Hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance. 10 1/4" diameter, 3" deep.

I would recommend the Lodge chicken fryer over this item, because it costs a lot less and it has the exact same dimensions, except that the fryer has a handle and this doesn't.

This is actually my first Lodge purchase, since every other cast iron piece I own is either Griswold or WagnerWare (or the odd unmarked piece I've picked up at antique shows here and there.) But the smaller Griswold dutch ovens are really expensive, so I was very pleased to see a nice price on a 3-quart Lodge dutch oven.
I bought this because my larger dutch ovens (a #8 and a #9) are really too big to use for No-Knead bread, and I also wanted a smaller dutch oven to cook with as well. Unfortunately, I'm not sure this one will work for No-Knead bread. It's much shallower than I expected--I expected a deep 3-quart dutch oven, not a shallow one. But I'm going to try it out and see if it works anyway.
I will be keeping it, because it will be useful, but if you are considering a purchase, keep in mind that these dutch ovens aren't made in the same shapes as the antique cast iron ones.
