The Evesham pattern by Royal Worcester is a highly collectible English design on fine porcelain. The pattern is named after a local fruit-growing region in England. The 5 piece place setting includes a dinner plate, salad plate, bread and butter plate, tea cup and saucer. Royal Worcester, producer of fine English porcelain, celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2001, but its most popular pattern is just a little more than 40 years old--the Evesham pattern was designed by three artists from England's Royal College of Art in 1962. Evesham is a harvest design, painted with orchard fruits and foliage that is starting to turn autumn colors. The color palette is composed of rust, gold, plum, purple-black, antique red, apricot, and pale green, all on a white background. The Evesham Gold pattern adds a burnished border of 22-carat gold for an opulent appearance. All Evesham dishes are made of top-quality, high-fired, white glazed porcelain.

The large Evesham Gold oval serving dish features large branches of peaches and apples on a white background in the bottom of the dish, with small sprays of red currants and blackberries on the outer surface of the two longer sides. Its tall sides make it a good dish in which to serve vegetables or roast meats--anything juicy or covered in a sauce. Filled with fruit, it would also make a lovely low centerpiece bowl. Other Evesham Gold table service pieces include a large divided entertaining dish, a large flat pizza dish, and a deep vegetable bowl.

All Evesham dishes are made from a high-fired porcelain that on its own would be freezer- and oven-safe; however, gold is a soft metal and can easily be damaged by extremes in temperature, so Evesham Gold china is not recommended for use in dishwasher, oven, microwave, or freezer. Hand wash with nonabrasive detergent and a soft sponge or cloth to preserve the gold detail work. The Evesham Gold oval dish measures 14-3/4 long by 9 inches wide and has 2-inch-high sides.
