Summary: Not induction capable on Viking induction 2009-09-09
Comment: Just got this pot. It's very nice, and will clearly last a long time -- especially if you follow their guidelines about heating it slowly. It's similar to Le Creuset, but has a black interior, and seems like it might be more pleasing to cook in over time.

The problem is that it is NOT recognized by my Viking induction range. It is magnetic, but not highly magnetic. The viking range recognized it when cold, but once hot it did not. (I believe the magnetic properties if iron decrease with temperature.)

Summary: Poor quality 2009-06-08
Comment: I loved the way Staub cooks, or at least until my pot cracked against the sink. Amazingly the sink survived but my pot has a crack 4 inches long. I was more amazed to see a disclaimer on their website that if the pot hits a solid surface it might break and there is no warranty on that. I have plenty of Le Creuset and they resist pretty much everything. Staub slipped of my hand and cracked againt the sink. Poor quality and they never answer phone calls or e-mails for warranty services. Also, keep your reciept forever because you need it for any claims. To pay $200-$300 for a pot and loose it like that is not worth it. Go with Le Creuset instead.

Summary: Perfect for two people, and beautiful to boot! 2008-12-19
Comment: I was blown away by the beauty of this piece, and have used it to make small stews in the oven. I was a bit hesitant about the price, but the performance and the quality (heft) have convinced me to add more Staub pieces to my collection.

Summary: Staub 2.25 Quart Cocotte 2008-08-12
Comment: I have the 7 Quart Staub which I like very much so ordered this 2.5 Quart size for smaller tasks.

I have been very happy with this purchase. It was delivered promptly and in perfect condition. For breakfast my oatmeal cooks quickly at low temperature. Cooking brown rice is aided by the tight cover and the steam drips back into the pot causing the rice to be well cooked before the fluid is gone. I have also used it for baking bread with good results.

It is heavy which I'm sure helps it achieve the excellent results.
