Bought the 7 Qt. Cocotte for my wife for Christmas. Cooked a 3.5 lb. chicken this weekend. The flavor of the meat was wonderful. I had serious reservations after I ordered it, mostly due to the (perceived) high price.

But, now I would say,if you want a dutch oven that will surely become a family heirloom, try this "Cocotte".

It somehow makes the flavors of a simple roasted chicken (6 peeled garlic cloves in the cavity, rubbed with olive oil, salt/pepper/thyme on the breast and legs, set on 1/4 cup white wine, cooked 1 hr. 45 min. hours approx) become a goumet meal. The meat was moist, falling off the bone and had a wonderful flavor.

I am impressed. And, it is beautiful.

I ordered the "eggplant", a work of art in my opinion.
