I was looking for some unique baking and serving casseroles, something appropriate for single servings. I looked at Le Creuset (since I own several pieces of them) but could not find what I was looking for. Staub is the other big name in French cast iron cookware and this piece looked intriguing. Overall, I like it, but 1 cup is pretty small. I would have liked it better if it was twice as big. For far I have used it for:

* French Onion Soup
* Mashed Potato Casserole
* Shepherd's Pie
* Baked Brie
* Pot Pie

I well keep looking for something a little larger but until then I will buy a few more of these. They are perfect for entertaining and they really make a statement. They retain heat better than stoneware and will last for many, many years. I am happy with this item, I just won't be using it as often as I would if it was a little bigger
