Product Review

Factory pre-seasoned finish offers better protection against rust and provides an non-stick surface at the same time. With its long lasting durability, resistance to chipping and warping, greater heat distribution, and ability to keep food warm longer, pre-seasoned cast iron should be a staple in any kitchen - outdoors or in!

I tried several different 2-qt Dutch ovens for the kind of "infusion cooking" described in Elizabeth Yarnell's Glorious One-Pot Meals: A Revolutionary New Quick and Healthy Approach to Dutch-Oven Cooking. Most of them were of a squat, wide shape, at least as compared to the Texsport. Its taller, narrower shape seemed better for this kind of cooking. Also, if filled to brim, the capacity is 2.5 quarts, and the extra room comes in quite handy for greens. I removed the handle, though in some circumstances it might be useful. It's easy to remove and is as easily reattached.

I was looking for a smaller Cast Iron Dutch oven as there is just my husband and I. I found one that is preseasoned which makes it much better. We are happy with the cookware.

The sides are extremely uneven, one side is very thin, the opposite side is very thick.

I can't see how it is possible for this to have passed any sort of quality control, even the very least of an attempt at Q.C. would have seen this bad casting.
The differences between the two sides are overwhelmingly obvious, it is simply NOT possible to have missed this severe flaw.

I didn't want to return the oven, (I wasn't even sent a return slip with the oven), so I used it to bake some bread.

The oven would get 5 stars, however, I simply cannot give a 5 star rating due to the complete inadequacies of the 'quality control'.

Very poor Q.C.!
